**A Prayer Before Reading the Bible**
Heavenly Father,
As I open the pages of Your Word, I come to You with a heart filled with both anticipation and humility. Your Word is a treasure, a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. It is a source of wisdom, guidance, and comfort, and I am eager to receive all that You have for me today.
But I also recognize that I am but a finite creature, and Your Word is vast and infinite. I cannot fully comprehend all that it contains, but I trust that You will reveal to me what I need to know in this moment.
Open my eyes to the wonders of Your creation, and my ears to the melodies of Your love. Help me to understand the scriptures in a way that transforms my life and brings me closer to You.
May the words I read inspire me to live a life of love, compassion, and service. May they challenge me to grow in faith, hope, and love. And may they lead me to a deeper knowledge of You, my Savior and my God.
I pray that as I read Your Word, Your Holy Spirit will illuminate my mind and guide my heart. May I be transformed by the renewing of my mind, and may I become more and more like Your Son, Jesus Christ.
I ask these things in His precious name,
Amen.

**Another Prayer Before Reading the Bible**
Heavenly Father,
As we approach Your holy Word, we come before You in the spirit of humility and reverence. We acknowledge, as it is written, that we are to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and to lift up holy hands in prayer, without wrath and doubting (1 Timothy 2:8). Just as Jesus withdrew to a solitary place to pray (Mark 1:35), we too seek a moment of solitude with You, Lord, to prepare our hearts and minds for the wisdom and guidance we are about to receive from the Scriptures.
Your Word instructs us that everything written in the Scriptures was meant for our learning, giving us patience and comfort, and through them, we might have hope (Romans 15:4). Therefore, we pray, O God, that as we read Your Word, it may be sanctified by Your Spirit and our prayer, becoming for us the living bread that nourishes our souls (1 Timothy 4:5).
We are reminded of the example set by Jesus, who, in moments of decision and solitude, devoted Himself to prayer (Mark 14:32). As we delve into Your Word, let us embrace the discipline of prayer and fasting, recognizing that some revelations and spiritual strengths are attained in no other way (Mark 9:29).
Lord, as we seek to understand Your Word, let us also remember the call to pray for one another, that we may be uplifted and strengthened in our faith journey together (1 Thessalonians 5:25). May our study be not just an intellectual exercise but a spiritual encounter that draws us closer to You.
In the knowledge that Your Word was given to us for instruction, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, let us approach the Bible with open hearts and minds, ready to be transformed by its truths (2 Timothy 3:16). May the gospel, which was foretold to Abraham as a blessing to all nations through faith, resonate within us, affirming that we are part of this blessed narrative (Galatians 3:8).
Finally, Lord, as we embark on this journey through Your Word, guide us by Your Holy Spirit. Help us to understand Your teachings, to apply them in our lives, and to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, that we may discern what is Your good, pleasing, and perfect will (Romans 12:2).
In the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we pray,
Amen….
